A33-year-oldwomanpresentedtothehospitalwitha5-dayhistoryoffeverandcoughofunknowncause.SheindicatedthatsheworkedinWuhan,China(thecenterofnovelcoronavirusoutbreak)buthadtraveledtoLanzhou,China,6daysbeforepresentationtothehospital.

Atadmission,herbodytemperaturewaselevatedto39.0°C(.2°F)andcoarsebreathsoundsofbothlungswereheardatauscultation.Laboratorystudiesshowedleucopenia(whitebloodcellcount:2.91×/L).Thewhitebloodcelldifferentialcountshowed70.0%neutrophilsand0.1%eosinophils.TherewereelevatedbloodlevelsforC-reactiveprotein(16.16mg/L;normalrange,0–10mg/L),erythrocytesedimentationrate(29mm/h;normalrange,20mm/h),andD-dimer(ng/mL;normalrange,ng/mL).UnenhancedchestCTshowedmultipleperipheralground-glassopacitiesinbothlungs(Figure,A)thatdidnotsparethesubpleuralregions.Real-timefluorescencepolymerasechainreactionofthepatient’ssputumwaspositiveforthenovelcoronavirus(-nCoV)nucleicacid.

入院时，她的体温升至39.0°C，听诊时听到双肺的呼吸音。实验室研究显示白细胞减少症（白细胞计数：2.91×/L）。白细胞差异计数显示70.0％的中性粒细胞和0.1％的嗜酸性粒细胞。C反应蛋白（16.16mg/L；正常范围，0-10mg/L），红细胞沉降速率（29mm/h；正常范围，20mm/h）和D-二聚体的血药浓度升高（ng/mL；正常范围，ng/mL）。平扫胸部CT显示两个肺部均出现多个外周毛玻璃样混浊（图A），侵犯胸膜下区域。患者痰液的实时荧光聚合酶链反应对年新型冠状病毒（-nCoV）核酸呈阳性。
